This is No Ordinary Love
By Audrey Alma Meyer
A scanty list...
Choosing a candidate.
What is to deliberate?
A dive into deep waters,
Abstraction by excellence.
Clinging to some imaginative, shapeless human being-
Our anonymous donor.
To conceive a child on my own…
This is no ordinary love.
A muse has appeared.
He has been holding my hand for some time,
Finding this friendly listener,
Who is ripe for my very being.
It reveals a subtle alchemy.
Somehow, we stand shoulder to shoulder.
He is my guide.
This is no ordinary love
Leaning to love
In various forms
And intensities-
Sometimes with hesitations,
Rarely with certainties.
Bridging over what holds me,
This “what” that embodies “what is not.”
I step back and forward,
Still in a virtual mode,
This is no ordinary love.
Taught to love others as ourselves,
We have compassion for the layman.
We shall love God with all our heart,
And show respect for those who have shown us love.
Yet, self compassion-
A supreme echo to my heart and soul-
Is yet to be assimilated.
Holding on despite this arduous path,
This is no ordinary love.
Stemming from shattered pieces,
The bareness of the mind,
I rise as a freedom seeker.
Branching out,
Purposelessly,
An explorer through time and space,
I dwell within
Infinity and grace.
This is no ordinary love.
